Our Story

House of Khaos got its start in May 2021, founded by Khaotic, a Brooklyn-born spoken word poet, event curator, and self-published author who had the dream to turn her love for art and story into a flourishing community. The platform began as a virtual home for artists and storytellers during the peak of the pandemic.

As time went on and the quarantine lifted, Khaotic took the platform's momentum and began hosting monthly in-person events, inviting creatives from all walks of life to dive deep into the khaos, fulfilling her original desire to give back to this community which poured into her own creative cup. Soon, she attracted a team of like-minded souls looking to spread this special brand of khaos to the community around her, adding Winston (The VOID) and Cameron (aka False Prophet) to the team in the hopes of pushing this small dream turned big as high as it'll go.

As of today, House of Khaos not only offers communal spaces for connection and creativity but also individual support services like 1:1 consultations and manuscript beta reading for fellow writers who are brave enough to share their stories with the world.

I thought I was just pulling up for a little poetry here, some sanging there but no, I pulled up and was welcomed by a new family. This space is perfectly curated to cleanse your mind and create wonderful moments of reflection. I’m so thankful to have experienced House of Khaos and look forward to popping out in the future. For anyone hesitant to just take a leap of faith, join a new space, and be your artistic self (whatever that may look like for you) be ready for that little PUSH you never knew you needed!

The attention to detail and thoughtfulness of all the elements in House of Khaos’ open mic I attended was everything! The musicians are so talented and can come up with beautiful backdrops to the performers’ pieces, the writing prompts were creative and playful, there was a table of beautiful notebooks and pens for us to use, as well as a collaboration with a hand-crafted jewelry designer. Khaotic is a wonderful host whose calm aura and dry wit makes the House of Khaos open mic a welcoming and safe space to express yourself and share your art in community.

This writing workshop/open mic is very precious to me. House of Khaos has provided such a safe space for many different creatives in the community and calling it beautiful would be such an understatement. I would not be the poet I am today without it, and I am grateful for the energy that is in the room at every event. Everybody that I have ever invited to it loves it as well and becomes excited for the next one!
